“I would like to add a special encouragement to the Rushmore 8th grade class of 1959 to come to this reunion. It would be great to see all of you again!”
                                              --Larry Dammer

HERE'S THE SCHEDULE:

Thursday, July 24 -- Social hour at the Elks Lodge, 1105 Second Ave., 5 p.m. to ?   Ron Trunk's cousin, Francis Meier, manager of the Elks Lodge, has generously provided a room.  Stop by when you can -- everyone is welcome!  Get a head start on catching up with old friends.

Friday, July 25 -- No-host mixer, 6--10 pm, TraveLodge, similar to 2003.  If you wish, have dinner at the Stephanie's Restaurant buffet.  The Worthington-Nobles rooms are reserved for us.  Grab a plate from the buffet & bring it across the hall, or just stop by to say hello!  Mary Sowles Burchill, chairman.

Saturday, July 26 -- Casual poolside BBQ reunion dinner, Worthington Country Club.  No-host cocktails, 5 pm; class photo 6 pm sharp; dinner about 6:30 pm.  Memory books with classmates' contact info & comments submitted by the June printing deadline are included with Saturday night's dinner.  Judy Buntjer Powers, Linda Greven Paulsen & Jo Batcheller Cron, dinner chairmen; Rick & Nancy Habicht Ireland, program chairmen.  Prizes & surprises!  Senior class president Connie Hansberger Ruch presiding.

Sunday, July 27 -- Brunch & tours, 10 am--1 pm, historic Dayton House (known in our school days as Cashel's nursing home).  See more about the Dayton House by clicking on "Links," left. Light brunch & tours beginning at 10 am. Food will be available until noon. Tours in small groups from 10 am until 12:30 pm. We must vacate the Dayton House at 1 pm.  Cheryl Wehr Heitkamp, chairman.

Sunday, July 27 -- After the Dayton House, caravan to Lake Okoboji for a nostalgic afternoon cruise on the Queen II.  Drive your own car or share a ride to Okoboji.  Caravan will leave from the Dayton House at 1 p.m.  MapQuest suggests it's a 50-minute drive -- but remember, it's a summer Sunday afternoon.

We are going on the 3 p.m. cruise aboard the Queen II.  For more info, go to "Links," upper left.  Cost per their web site is $12/person for seniors 62+. (Yes, that's you!)  Cruise lasts 1¼ hours.

Stay for dinner afterwards -- place to be determined.  We had planned to go to Tweeter's, but it's closed due to a fire.  We are searching for an alternative.  Any suggestions?

If you missed the 40th reunion in 2003 -- you missed a GREAT time!  In case you can't tell from the big smiles in the photos from 2003 elsewhere on this site, the consensus was it was a wonderful weekend.  Your classmates came from the East & West Coasts & even from abroad, as well as from around Minnesota, the Upper Midwest & the rest of the U.S.
